Coming back to the computer several hours later it appears that the disk scan is waking up and recommencing. Using an external drive as the scanning target, the activity light flashes when the Mac screen goes to screen saver but then when the screen saver disappears and the screen goes blank, the external disk’s activity light goes out. I am fairly sure I have identified the problem and need advice on how to deal with it. I have tried a different product in the last few days in the hope that it would not be the same but it is. I have used a leading anti-malware product for Macs for over a year now but have noticed with the OS upgrade to Mojave that disk scans are taking ridiculous lengths of time (10 hours over night for example) and not completing. ![]() So please do not respond if you believe Mac computers are invulnerable.
